Judge bans hunting grizzly bears in the United States

In a resounding victory for the animals, a federal judge ruled that it was "arbitrary and capricious" to strip grizzly bears, which inhabit Yellowstone National Park, of their protection under the Endangered Species Act and was important again. prohibit their hunting.

THIS DECISION BLOCKS THE PLANNED BEAR HUNT IN WYOMING AND IDAHO AND RESTORES LEGAL PROTECTION OF BEARS.

In 1975, the hunt for grizzly bears in Yellowstone caused the species to almost become extinct, and they were among the first animals to be protected under the Endangered Species Act.

In the past 10 years, hunting enthusiasts have twice tried to strip bears of their protection. However, animal advocates and Native Americans fought for these bears, and both attempts failed.

In 2017, the US Fish and Wildlife Service removed this species from the list of protected animals. The justification was because, according to the government, they had already reached a self-sufficient population and, thus, they opened the door to their hunt.

Fortunately, SEVERAL PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS DEFENDING WILDLIFE IN WYOMING AND IDAHO FIGHTED TO RETURN TO BE PROTECTED.

This federal judge stopped what would have been the first grizzly bear hunting season in more than 40 years in Yellowstone, where there are 700 grizzly bears.
